Underwater photography by Andy Kirkland

Hurghada, March 2007

This was my first time out to Hurghada, and it was another trip with my Dive Club.
The first few days were limited by the wind, and we seemed to have arrived during a salp bloom.
This was interesting for some of the first dive, then it got in the way of a lot of my photos, and wasn’t really all that nice to swim through….

After 3 days, some of the group went off on a trip to Luxor, so there were only 4 of us diving for a couple of days. They joined us again for the last day, when we managed to get over to Abu Nuhas to dive the (quite splendid) Carnatic and the Giannis D.
And then – just as we finished diving – we were joined by some dolphins, who played around with the boat … until they got bored. DSCF0783_C1.jpg

We were diving with Emperor Divers.
Stayed at the Sultan Beach Hotel. This was clean enough, but isn’t especially recommended (although the Big Brother cafe over the road was excellent).

I’ve just got around to loading up the photos here
